WELLS FARGO NEVADA CELEBRATES THE SPIRIT OF VOLUNTEERISM
Wells Fargo contributed more than $2 million in 2006 to more than 200 non-profits and schools in Nevada. This includes nearly $40,000 that Wells Fargo matched when team members made personal contributions to pre-K through college educational institutions.
Each year Wells Fargo sponsors a community support campaign to raise additional funds for the community. In 2006, Wells Fargo team members raised nearly $338,000 for non-profits in Nevada.
To recognize and acknowledge the volunteer efforts in their communities, Wells Fargo Nevada, along with The Jefferson Awards for Public Service, recently co-sponsored Celebrate Reno and Celebrate Las Vegas. These two evening events brought together outstanding volunteers, corporate leaders, heads of major not-for-profits, and other prominent local citizens. In Reno, Mayor Robert Cashell, talked about the importance of volunteerism in building a strong community. And Mayor Oscar Goodman of Las Vegas, thanked the volunteers who help the city thrive as one of the fastest growing communities in the nation.
The Jefferson Awards for Public Service were founded in 1972 by Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, Senator Robert Taft, Jr. and Sam Beard to create a "Nobel Prize" for public and community service. Both Co-founder Sam Beard and National Director, Greg Moore, attended the Celebrate events and praised Wells Fargo for its leadership and contributions to many community outreach initiatives.
