DELOITTE HOSTS CELEBRATE CHICAGO
Deloitte Chicago recently played host to the Jefferson Awards for Public Service "Celebrate Chicago" event. The Jefferson Awards were founded in 1972 by Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, U. S. Senator Robert Taft, Jr. and Sam Beard to establish a "Nobel Prize" for public and community service. This cocktail reception celebrated the spirit of volunteering in the Chicago community. The Jefferson Awards honors unsung heroes all over the Chicago area. NBC5 promotes the stories and uses the stories as a call to action to inspire others to get involved.
Deloitte employees joined other corporate and community leaders to hear inspiring stories from local "unsung heroes" and to applaud the good work of individuals who contribute to community building. Aramark generously donated all of the food and drinks for the event. Other local corporations participating in the event, include, Conlon Public Strategies, Exelon, University of IL at Chicago, Illinois Institute of Technology, Harris Bank, Chicago Public Schools, and Aquascape Designs. Local NBC5 anchors Alison Rosati and Warner Saunders were also on hand to celebrate along with Jefferson Award co-founder Sam Beard. Deb DeHaas, Vice Chairman and Regional Managing Partner, welcomed everyone noting how proud Deloitte is to partner with the Jefferson Awards given the involvement of our employees in the Chicago community and throughout the country.
